Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about comparing website performance with real Chrome field data.
- How many URLs can I compare at once?
- You can compare up to 5 URLs side by side. Each URL is resolved against the CrUX dataset independently, so you can mix pages from different sites, compare competitors, or benchmark different page templates on the same domain.
- What metrics are compared?
- All six CrUX metrics are shown side by side: Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), Interaction to Next Paint (INP), Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS), First Contentful Paint (FCP), Time to First Byte (TTFB), and Round Trip Time (RTT). Each metric includes the current P75 value, pass/fail status, and 6-month trend direction.
- Can I compare a page against its own site origin?
- Yes — that's exactly what the Page vs Origin tool does. It automatically compares a specific page's metrics against the site-wide origin data from CrUX, so you can see if a page is dragging down or outperforming the site average.
- What's the difference between this and the CrUX Report?
- The CrUX Report analyzes a single URL in depth — score, trends, distributions, assessment timeline. Compare URLs puts multiple URLs side by side so you can see relative performance at a glance. Use CrUX Report for deep analysis, Compare for benchmarking.
- Do all URLs need CrUX data available?
- Yes. Each URL must have sufficient traffic in the Chrome User Experience Report dataset. If a URL has no CrUX data (very new, low-traffic, or private sites), it will show as unavailable in the comparison. The remaining URLs will still be compared.
- Can I compare pages across different form factors?
- Yes. You can toggle between Phone, Desktop, and All Devices using the form factor selector. The comparison will show all metrics for the selected form factor, letting you see if one site performs better on mobile while another leads on desktop.
